MY POV

In this lifetime, I aim to use my creativity to not just decorate our world but to uplift others and our planet.

I create with the intention of bringing people together, especially during such a divisive time. I want my creativity to inspire others to be authentically themselves, and to feel safe and excited doing so.

I hope my ideas and creativity plant seeds of hope, empathy, and good vibes in people’s hearts. I want to remind people that we are not separate from nature, nor from each other, and we all exist as one, together.

WHAT INSPIRES ME:

1. Film: The Matrix

This film inspires me because the main character escapes the confinement of everything he believed to be true. I apply this to my daily life as I aim to challenge my beliefs, question social systems, and think creatively outside the box.

Also, this film is just awesome, and I love the futuristic cyber style and aesthetic.

2. Ending Overconsumption

On a personal level, the images of overfilled landfills inspire me to be more intentional behind my purchases and waste decisions because we are all a smart part of a wide collective, and can make an impact against climate change and the degradation of our home.

On a career level, this reminds me that I don’t want my work to contribute to overconsumption, as advertising and capitalism are the backbone of the problem.

3. Bad Bunny Winning Best Album of the Year

This moment was so beautiful and inspiring to me because it hit so close to home.

Bad Bunny came from humble beginnings, as did I. To see him call out colonialism, stand up against ICE, and win a Grammy for an album entirely in Spanish during a time when people like him and I are being targeted by our government is so moving. Bad Bunny inspires me to be unapologetically myself, and he shows me that I don’t have to water myself down to be successful and fulfilled.

4. The Fibonacci Sequence

This is a geometric ratio that is abundant in nature. To me, it symbolizes the interconnectedness of the universe

It inspires me to recognize and appreciate the harmony of nature and our universe, and how we fit into that, too :)

5. “Collective Effervescence”

As I mentioned earlier, I absolutely love music (and I love to dance, as you can tell on the right). I recently found out about the term “collective effervescence,” which means “the intense, shared emotional energy and sense of unity that arises when people gather, creating a feeling of being part of something larger than themselves” - sociologist Émile Durkheim

Every time I go to a concert or DJ show, I am overwhelmed with this feeling, and it inspires me because it is a feeling I hope to evoke with my work: to show people that we are all one.

6. Anthony Bourdain

I am so inspired by Bourdain’s love and passion for travelling, food, and humility.

His approach to using food as a bridge to connect with others worldwide inspires me by reminding me that, despite us having differences, we all share universal commonalities, and a plate of food, just like music and laughter, is more than enough to bring us together.

7. D SQUARED WINTER ‘25 SHOW

I am absolutely obsessed with D SQUARED because of how the designers beautifully intersect fashion and aesthetics with pop culture.

I love the flamboyance of all their runway looks, and I feel inspired by their vision on a day-to-day basis as I get ready for the occasion that is life!

8. Film: Ya No Estoy Estoy Aquí

This film takes you on a journey of a young boy who was forced to leave his home due to gang violence and head to NYC for safety.

I feel inspired by this film because, as a first-generation citizen and student, I resonate with the main character as he navigates uncharted territory, a dual-cultural identity, and uses music as a grounding medium to reconnect with his culture and home.

9. Zohar Mamdani

Zohar Mamdani's election is a glimmer of sun during these difficult times. He and everyone who voted for him in NYC inspire me because they demonstrate that even in the face of so much hatred in the world, kindness, authenticity, and competence will always persevere. He is someone who breaks barriers and unites New Yorkers across all cultures, classes, and faiths by unifying with love and hope.

I mean… how can you not love this guy.
